From the inside out with ADPR

How ADPR achieved an employee engagement score of over 90%

The Challenge

In 2017 ADPR found itself under new management. The company was on a new journey, with a new vision, mission and purpose placing employees at the heart of the organisation. The same employees had undergone a lot of change and disruption, and with no strategy in place to measure their engagement levels, understanding how they were feeling and how best to support them was presenting an obvious challenge. With the knowledge that 85% of all UK employees are disengaged at work, the new management team knew that taking a people first approach was not only essential but would require a robust strategy and a long-term commitment to change the historical culture.

Since completing the surveys I feel more engaged with my team, the company and my role. The leadership at ADPR is outstanding. Everyone is always kept in the loop, and Kate is always transparent with company updates or if any issues arise. The management team does an incredible job of supporting all employees at all levels.

(anonymous feedback from survey)

The Solution

The first step was to conduct some research to understand the reality of the current situation. We invested in an employee engagement platform to gather real world feedback via an anonymous staff survey, that would be used to create an impactful communication strategy. The survey is repeated on a quarterly basis giving all employees the opportunity to share feedback, and to ensure that the results are measured and used for continuous improvement within the company.

The survey results informed the management team about the refinements required to improve engagement levels within the organisation. As a result a number of tactics have been implemented to include:

  • Individual professional development plans for each member of staff
  • A greater focus on well-being, including weekly meditation sessions and a specialised counselling helpline for all staff
  • A no blame culture based on kindness and trust – all policies have been developed by the team
  • Improved staff benefits to include better pay, increased holiday allowance, flexible working hours, CSR fundraising events, more social events and better praise and recognition within the team

The Results

By taking the time to really listen to its employees, ADPR has made a number of refinements that have had a significant impact on employee engagement levels. By taking a consistent, data informed approach with its internal communications strategy, ADPR has seen a huge shift with its overall business growth. Having highly engaged employees has led to increased productivity, high staff retention levels, improved customer service, better internal skill sets and significant business growth, which is helping the company to achieve its commercial objectives.

ADPR employees now know that they have a voice and are valued. They work exceptionally well together as one team working towards a shared set of values and goals.
